"Yoga is a not an ancient myth buried in oblivion. It is the most valuable inheritence of present. It is the essential need of today and the culture of tommorow." (Swami Satyananda Saraswati.)
Yoga is an ancient system of philosophy, lifestyle and techniques that evolves the whole person, the physical, the mental and the realization of the spiritual reality of each one of us.
"Peace and happiness can be found only within. You cannot certainly find it in external objects. Wealth, women, children, property, palatial buildings cannot give you everlasting Peace. Look within. Realise your oneness with that One Supreme Self, who lives in the chambers of your heart. When you are established in That, which is an ocean of Peace and Happiness, you will not be shaken even by heavy sorrow, loss or failures, inharmonious and disagreeable vibrations. You will tide over all difficulties or crises of life very easily and will come back with triumph in all experiences. Mysterious is this Peace! Marvellous is this Peace! Realise this Peace that passeth all understanding through Yoga Sadhna and be free. Float in this ocean of Peace and rejoice in the Peace of your own Self." (Swami Sivananda, Divine Life Society)
Sometimes people ask me whether yoga cures a disease or not .My answer is simple and not diplomatic one, like the doctors give.I simply tell them that yoga can manage incurable diseases like Thyroid, Diabetes, Cancer, Arthiritis like doctors do ,what they do is ,give medicines so that the disease could be managed, but medicines have their side effects and yoga has none.
ReplyDeleteYoga is efficient only when we do it with proper training.we do Yoga with proper breathing, rest and holding position.breathing and rest differentiate it from exercise.we should hold any ‘asan’upto our calibre.there is three minutes ‘asan’and one minute rest for every pose.every asan has a different rest pose.only a trained yogi can teach you proper posture, breathing and rest pose
It gave me immense pleasure teaching a rural lady who might be in her late fifties or early sixties. When she came to me to learn, I was reluctant to teach her because she didn't seem to passionate at all.it gave me an impression that she will learn for few days go back and will be busy with her daily chores.and most interesting thing was that she wanted to learn for fitness.
ReplyDeleteI know very well that in their society healthy means being chubby and not the slim trimness.yet i taught her with great enthusiasm. She learnt fitness Yoga only and went back to her hometown.I was surprised when she came to me after six months and did all the 'Asans'in front of me with utter perfection ,with right posture , breathing and rest pose
